Holiday Poem

Last night at Panos was a lot of fun. The food kept coming and the conversation was lively.

I came across the poem that Tod wrote after last year's December dinner, where our group had sat at two different spots without realizing it. It has such a holiday spirirt that I thought I'd post it.

'twas two weeks before Christmas
and all throughout Ballard
not a thing could be heard—not a seagull or mallard.

Two groups sat at Thaiku (gesundheit!)
having plenty of fun
though these two groups (in theory)
were supposed to be one.

Then inside of Pam's purse
there arose such a ringing;
thought Ms. Green, with a curse,
"What fresh hell is this bringing?"

"Are you lost? Stuck in traffic?
Where the heck are you guys?
The waitstaff's suspicious
about our party's true size."

"Where are we?!" cried a voice,
"No, what about you?
We've been waiting for hours
at this place called Thaiku." (gesundheit)

Laying a finger on the side of her nose, Pam leapt from the table and strode through the rows of the tables until she had reached table three, and there she discovered with chagrin and with glee that her friends were all there— neither hiding nor lost nor ready to flee.

Bringing them back to our table with care Pam seated this sizable group in their chairs.
The intros went round
with a most unique wrinkle
which is why I know folks
as green and periwinkle,
not to mention black, orange
purple, blue and ecru
but a name, I'll be damned if I remember two!

And that's how two groups
ended up at one sitting
(though when we were paying
separate checks seemed more fitting.)

Thanks to Pam for an evening
of great food and delight
Merry Christmas to all
and to all a good night!

Dec Dinner Club Evite...and my news

Hi everyone,

The December Dinner Club Evite has been sent and can also be viewed online at http://www.evite.com/pamgreen@microsoft.com/decdinner.

Also, I want to let you guys know I am now eating for two,...so can eat twice as much! Actually, that's not the way it works, apparently. Still, I'm enjoying a wide variety and generous quantities of food to feed the little person who will be here sometime in May. (May 16 they say, but we'll see.) Charles and I are very excited and to answer the two most common questions: Yes, we'll find out what gender it is (if it shows us) at our ultrasound in January and No, we don't have names picked out yet and may not share them anyhow. =)

Hope to see some of you on the 15th and for those I don't see have a great holiday!

Dec Check-in

I hope everyone had a great T-Day. I tried a new recipe, a pumpkin/chocolate swirl cake with chocolate glaze. Very thick and moist, like a pound cake (6 eggs, it should be!)

OK, I don't have the evite ready yet but we'll be doing dinner club on Monday, December 15 this month so mark your calendars. I'm still mulling what restaurants to pick.
